Trips & Excursions

During the semester students are offered to visit some of the most significant Italian sites under the guide and leadership of members of our faculty.
The sites are selected according to criteria related mainly to the topics of the program (e.g. Firenze, Padova, Pisa, Assisi, San Gimignano) but also to their international popularity without forgetting the culinary and oenological Italian traditions (e.g. Cinque Terre, Venezia, Pompei).
Only some of these sites will be visited each semester.

Upon arrival in Italy students will spend 3 days in Rome and it will be the first walk through history. Colosseum, Roman Fora, Vatican Museum, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain...will represent a memorable welcome for them!

Firenze (Florence) is only an hour away from Siena. We visit Firenze twice during the semester as part of the program to allow students the opportunity to see as many of the numerous treasures there as possible. The Uffizi and Accademia Galleries, Cathedral, Baptistry are just some of what there is to admire in this famous city, which is the capital of the Italian Renaissance.

This is one of the students' favorite destinations. Padova is tremendously significant as the home of Giotto's most renowned masterpiece, the Scrovegni Chapel, and its proximity to Venice.

Assisi is famous worldwide as the birth place of St. Francis and for the grandeur of the Basilica that hosts some of the most impressive masterpieces of the early Renaissance (Cimabue, Giotto, Simone Martini, Pietro Lorenzetti, and others).

Cinque Terre

To balance the overwhelming artistic component of our trips, we choose, when possible, to visit one of the most popular Italian natural resorts. The Cinque Terre with their terraces build on rugged steep landscape overlooking the sea, represent an extremely attractive destination.
