Programs & Course Information
Students must take the equivalent of a minimum of twelve semester hours of study while in Siena. Some students may register for the equivalent of fifteen or eighteen hours. We usually recommend that students take the equivalent of twelve hours, plan to do an outstanding job and spend the balance of their time learning about the people and culture.
The Siena program has a site director, Daniela Perozzi, and an assistant to the director, Barbara Latini, who are responsible for managing the program. Both speak English.
There is an academic core of courses which all participants must take (if a problem exists, see the site director). Classes are offered based on student demand. Students are required to take six semester hours of Italian while in Siena. Italian classes are scheduled so that the first half of the semester equals three semester hours and the second half three hours, In addition, students are required to take ITA 306 Italian Civilization (cross-listed with HIS 312) or FAR 469 Art and Architecture of Siena.
