Campus parking lots are enforced by the University Police for the following reasons:
- To insure that illegally parked vehicles do not hinder vehicles (i.e., fire lanes, roadways, fire hydrants, etc.) that have to respond to an emergency on campus.
- To uphold the parking privileges given to valid permit holders.
- To enforce the parking rules and regulations.
The operation of a motor vehicle on campus property is covered under New York State Education Law, Section 360, which authorizes the State University to adopt and make applicable to its campuses any and all provisions of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. Regulations are strictly enforced 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 12 months a year.
