FACILITIES

Situated on the Black Rock Canal near the head of the Niagara River, the Great Lakes Center’s Field Laboratory consists of facilities for work in aquatic ecosystems, water chemistry, and fish aquaculture as well as offices, and a conference room. Support facilities include an instrument shop, and maintenance garage. In addition, the adjacent Richard Smith Teaching Pavilion offers an enclosed space for lectures and meetings, and the Rotary Deck overlooking the Black Rock Canal offers views of the Niagara River and the Canadian shore. Dock, boat launch ramp, and vessel storage are available on site to serve the Center’s fleet of research vessels.
