Laura Schell ('97) has worked as a paper conservator in private practice since 1999. She has treated a wide variety of paper-based objects ranging from western and Asian fine art, Old Master prints, large and small ephemera, historic objects such as wall maps, charts, blueprints, and significant documents. Her client list includes museums, non-profits, historical societies, upscale framers and private owners. Emily Gardner Phillips ('08) has just launched her new website and conservation practice. Based in the Burlington area of the Champlain Valley, Phillips Art Conservation, LLC provides art conservation services, specializing in the area of paintings for museums and private collections.
Dena Çirpili ('02) specializes in ethnographic and archaeological objects providing conservation services to such cultural institutions as the Buffalo Museum of Science, The College of Wooster Art Museum, and Old Fort Niagara, as well as private collectors. She is also a Research Partner for the Akhmim Mummy Studies Consortium, an organization devoted to advancing the knowledge of the ancient Egyptian city of Akhmim. Yoshiyuki Nishio ('78) established Nishio Conservation Studio in 1995 to provide the highest quality care and professional conservation of Asian paintings, hanging scrolls (kakemono) and folding screens (byobu). Yoshi combines Japanese traditional techniques, craftsmanship, and aesthetics with Western academic training and a deep knowledge of modern scientific analysis and conservation ethics.
Teresa Myers ('02) offers a variety of services for both institutional and private clients as a private conservator in Sebec, Maine. Whether you have a collection or a single object, she offers conservation treatments and consultation on your collections management and object care needs. Paul Messier ('90) serves the specialized preservation needs of large institutions and private clients. Services include conservation treatment, collection surveys; grant research/writing and materials analysis. Paul is also available for consultation on the display, handling, transport and storage of works of art.
Laura Reutter ('89) devotes her time to both furniture conservation and tile-making. Inspired by early art pottery companies such as Moravian, Newcomb, and Grueby, her tile designs depict nature, with elements of Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts. Each tile is hand-pressed in a plaster mold and glazed by hand, making every tile a unique work of art. Dana Senge ('06) recently opened her private practice DKS Conservation Services based in Seattle, Washington specializing in objects and archaeological materials. Dana also offers consultations to clients interested in preventive conservation, emergency preparadness, and disaster response.
Rhonda Wozniak (’93) dedicates her practice to museum quality conservation of art and archaeological objects for private clients and institutions. Her services include: conservation treatments for a wide range of materials; collection surveys; courier services; educational lectures; and consultations on storage, shipping, display, and handling. Gwen Spicer ('91) started Spicer Art Conservation, L.L.C. in 1995, caring for collections from museums, historical societies, state agencies, businesses, and private owners. Her focus is to distinguish long-term collection care and preservation of artifacts. Gwen Spicer is a trained object, textile and upholstery conservator.
