Conservation Science Fund
Help us fulfill a $1 million challenge from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, who has generously given us $1.5 million toward an endowment in conservation science, with an additional $150,000 for equipment purchases. This restricted endowment will allow us to continue Dr. Greg Smith’s position as well as providing much needed research and travel funds for both of the department’s conservation scientists. Every contribution, large or small, helps!

F. Christopher Tahk Fellowship
As Director of the department from 1983 to 2004, and as professor of conservation science beginning in 1974, Distinguished Service Professor Dr. F. Christopher Tahk has made extraordinary contributions to the department and to the field of art conservation. In his honor, the Tahk Fellowship provides funding to students who undertake work on one of Chris’ favorite topics: the conservation and technical study of clocks, scientific equipment, or mechanical devices. Special consideration is given to students working with cultural institutions in Western New York.
